Suneeta is our esteemed speaker for #ATAGTR2019.

Suneeta will be taking a lightning talk session on “QA alignment in the DevOps world” Track 1 on Day 1

We had posted some questions to Suneeta as a part of his #ATAMyStory

1. Why should someone choose testing as a career ? Or What does testing really mean to you ?

In my opinion, testing as a sole career option does not really exist. Testing or Tester as a role has dissolved and new role definitions have emerged like SDET, Automation Architect, Quality Engineer or any of the specialized test streams like – Performance Engineer, Digital customer experience engineer, Data Privacy Tester etc.

Testers need to blend in with the changing trends in the SDLC and adapt to the different demand of the above-mentioned changed roles.

Testing for me is an in-built quality engineering process to accelerate time-to-market and deliver superior customer experiences. In fact, I believe in Quality Assurance is a strategic & transformative function that has become a Quality Enabler rather than being just a Gatekeeper.

2. While practice makes all of us perfect, share an everyday practice that has made things better for you at work

I start my day at work by greeting my coworkers with a big smile which creates positivity in my work environment.I try and read the Economics Times to know the changing trends and industry details. This helps my business development profile and gives me an edge in knowing the global changes.

3. The most challenging bug or issue that I have found and learnings from it ? Or The most challenging testing task that I have done and how I accomplished the same

For one of the complex program where the system used by the insurance agents was to be replaced, I was the test manager whose prime responsibility was to ensure all stakeholders understand the changes, impacted functions, dependencies, regression needs, automate the process and report out progress. One bug we found, unearthed existing production issue impacting 2 LOBs.

To resolve, I had to help both LOB Product owners understand the impact, work on business priority, quantum of testing to be done, check for other functionality to be pushed out of the release to accommodate this bug fix and get the plan executed.
