We had posted some questions to Sridhar as a part of his #ATAMyStory

1. Why should someone choose testing as a career? Or what does testing really mean to you?

Testing career involves working towards the assurance of quality Product. I play a key role as a tester where I can test the product and makes sure it is with the required quality and meets the customer requirements and also delight the customer.

2. While practice makes all of us perfect, share an everyday practice that has made things better for you at work

Couple of months before I was learning the Selenium/Java using web writer for a period through online course training, After that due to some tight release work I could not practice it and also forgot some of the important concepts about what I was learned. As per the above statement in the question that practice make a man perfect, I started practicing on a daily basis learning the selenium tool with Java and I am confident now that I can write/test using Selenium/Java Web writer.

3. The most challenging bug or issue that I have found and learnings from it ? Or The most challenging testing task that I have done and how I accomplished the same

During the Functional testing process in Fitnesse tool, we had a complex rule, which need to be tested where it involved several scenarios close to 500 scenarios. We need to manually enter the scenarios to create fixture in the Fitnesse. This was time consuming as it was taking more time to create fixture manually and in addition to that, we need to complete the testing within the time line. This was a new experience for me as I was doing functional testing for rules involves simple and less scenarios most of the time. To overcome this we came up with an Excel macro, which converts the test scenarios into fixture where we need to copy the required fields, paste it in the tool, and run the macro, which in turn provide a text file with the required fixture details. Then we can copy the fixture and paste it in the Fitnesse page. By this, we reduced the manual activity and with the help of macro tool created in MSEXCEL, we were able to accomplish the Functional-testing task and complete it within the time line set by the customer. This provided increase productivity, efficiency and quality.
